GPS Devices FAQ

When GPS device is offline:

1. We could check if the IP and port number saved in the watch is correct.

2. We could check if the sim card has been inserted properly? or the sim card is still in service of data package, SMS and voice communication.

3. We could check if the model # and IMEI # has been input correctly in the monitoring system.

4. We could check if APN/PIN has been set up correctly with the device.

5. We could check if the sim card supports 2G/3G/4G network.

6. We could try to reboot the device.

7. We could check the IMEI # pasted on watch back is the same as the one saved in watch firmware.

8. We could check if the communication protocols applied to GPS device has been encrypted, as well as the sim card.

9. We could check if the watch supports the local frequency band with the sim card.

When the commands sent from web-based or mobile application has not been delivered to the device successfully:

1. We could check if the device is still online.

1.2. We could check if the model # has been input correctly in the monitoring system.

1.3. We could check if the communication protocol applied to the device is the right one.

2. We could check if the network is available. When the network is not available, there will be error message saying not connected to the server, or connection timeout.

3. We could check if the device is online.

4. We could check if the device is expired in system. If it’s expired, we should contact with the device supplier or the monitoring system administrator.

When we could not call through the device:

1. We could check if the device supports two way voice communication.

2. We could check if the inserted sim card supports voice call.

3. We could check if the sim card has been inserted properly, and if the sim card has been detected by the watch.

4. We could check if there is a white list set up with the watch. If yes, we should update the list with your cellphone number before calling the sim card number.

 When the device could be not located correctly:

1. We could try to send out commands to change the rules of how the device works. The device works with the rules saved in the firmware, like how long the device will update location data, the priority to update GPS location data or WiFi location data, etc.

2. We should be aware of the fact that the device could not be located by GPS indoors. We could try to take the watch outside, like in a public park, squares or on the road with open sky. Or we can put the watch around GPS signal-amplifier.

3. We should be aware of the deviation that will always exist. For GPS location, the deviation could be 5-15 meters. For Wifi location, the deviation could be 10-50 meters. And for LBS location, the deviation could be 100-1000 meters.

4. We could contact the device supplier after trying all the solutions above.
