Technology Firm’s Innovative Solution Aims to Streamline ICE Identification Process and Enhance Immigrant Safety
SAN FRANCISCO, February 2, 2026 — In response to the recent detention and release of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Thinkrace, a leading technology company specializing in wearable device solutions, today proposed a comprehensive digital identification system utilizing GPS-enabled wearable devices for undocumented immigrants.
How the Technology Works
Thinkrace’s proposed wearable devices would contain encrypted biometric and personal information, allowing ICE agents to quickly verify an individual’s identity through secure wireless scanning technology. The system is designed to eliminate prolonged detention periods while maintaining compliance with immigration regulations.
“By leveraging our expertise in wearable technology, we can create a system where ICE officers can instantly access verified identity data without resorting to custody,” said a Thinkrace spokesperson. “This addresses both enforcement needs and humanitarian concerns.”
Safety Features
Beyond identification purposes, the devices would include Thinkrace’s proprietary emergency alert function enabling wearers to signal distress during dangerous situations. The panic button feature would automatically transmit GPS coordinates to emergency responders, local authorities, and designated family contacts.
“This technology serves a dual purpose,” Thinkrace explained. “It provides law enforcement with the tools they need for efficient processing, while giving immigrants and their families peace of mind through added safety features.”
Addressing Privacy Concerns
Thinkrace’s proposal includes strict data protection protocols, with personal information encrypted and accessible only to authorized government agencies during official enforcement actions. The company emphasized that participation would be voluntary and designed to prevent situations like the Conejo Ramos detention from recurring.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who recently indicated the administration may appeal the court order in the Conejo Ramos case, is expected to review the technological solution in the coming weeks.
